Additional Note:
I am offering a room for rent in a large house just off of the 35th Avenue exit (near Mills College) which is available now. The bedroom for rent is on the first floor. It has a closet, a ceiling fan, hardwood flooring, and is fairly large (170 sq. ft. not including the closet).
THE HOUSE -
This is a 2 story, 2400 square foot home that was built around 90 years ago. It has hardwood floors, built in cabinets, a large back yard, and a large enclosed front porch. There are 4 bedrooms, two upstairs and two downstairs. There are 2 bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs.

THE PEOPLE -
I am the owner of the home. I live there and rent out the other three bedrooms. There is no attempt to organize communal chores or activities, other than what takes place naturally amongst friends and people who clean up after themselves. Currently there are 3 adult men living here, in the age range of 30-43. Two of us have been here for almost 4 years now.
SHARED AREAS -
The tenants share a living room, dining room (both with built-ins and wood paneled walls), a laundry room with washer and dryer, a large kitchen with a dishwasher, garbage disposal, garbage compactor, fridge, and gas stove. There is also some crawl-space in the basement for storage which can be shared.
SOME DETAILS –
There is plenty of on-street parking. We are right beside the freeway, and you can hear it when you are outside of the house. But inside the house on the first floor it is very quiet (I think it is because of the enclosed porch, and that the freeway is above the level of the house). Of course the quick access to the freeway is very convenient.
I am sorry, but no indoor pets are allowed (well, birds or fish would be O.K.). They are too hard on the floors and rugs. No smoking in the house please.
SOME MONEY DETAILS -
The rent is $570 a month. Added to this will be one-fourth of the utilities, $6.25 toward HBO/Shotime, and $30 to go toward monthly cleaning of the shared areas. Included at no extra charge is basic satellite into the bedroom, high-speed wireless internet access or shared use of a household computer, and garbage expenses.
Move-in costs will be first and last month’s rent plus a $300 security deposit to cover any repairs/cleaning/painting that is needed after moving out. The security deposit will be refunded if the room has no such needs.
On the whole it is a very nice place to live. Preference will be given to applicants with references and an ability to demonstrate financial stability.
